We will try to respond within 24 hours, Monday - Friday, except for school holidays and breaks between semesters (see Alamo Colleges Calendar). The service is available during the Maymester. However during the Maymester and Summer, questions submitted on Fridays or on the weekends will not be processed until the following Monday.

Known Issues:

Earthlink requires that an email address be in the user's Earthlink address book for email to get through, therefore, responses from Ask a Librarian MAY NOT reach you if the email address you supply is to Earthlink. If you want to receive a reply to your question, please change your email settings to permit all email (click here for more on Earthlink's email filter), or, use an alternate email address such as your PALS email address, to receive your responses from Ask a Librarian. Click here to retrieve your ACES email ID. If you do not wish to use your free ACES email, you may sign up for a free email address from Yahoo.com, Hotmail.com, etc. and used that email address instead of your Earthlink email address.
The Librarians checking the Ask a Librarian email will not respond to any automatic replies from Earthlink email addresses that require our staff to complete an online form requesting permission from the Earthlink user to allow our email to reach them!

We have also experienced problems responding to email addresses in the .mil domain. If your email address ends with ".mil" we may be unable to reply to you due to the DoD's firewalls. If you do not receive a response, please re-submit your question and supply an email address other than ".mil" such as a free email account with Yahoo.com, hotmail.com, etc.
