Annual Statistics - Reference: Summer 2014

In Maymester & Summer 2014, librarians answered 3,486 reference questions.

Monday was our overall busiest day. Wednesday was our 2nd busiest. Our busiest days/time (anything over 100) for Maymester & Summer 2014:

• Mon - 8-10am, 1-2pm
• Tue - 11am-12pm
• Wed - 7-8am, 10am-12pm
• Thu - 9-11am
• Fri - 1-2pm

Our patrons still prefer to ask for help In person by a whopping 87%. Patrons contacting us through other means (phone calls, texting, email, and Ask a Librarian form) rose slightly to 13%.

Technical questions ((database access, database searching, GoPrint)) accounted for 39% of all questions. The rest of the questions - Reference (30%) and Directional (26%).

Now let's look at the type of question asked and how long it took us to answer each question. 

• 56% of Reference questions: 1 min or less
• 40% of Reference questions: 2-10 min
• 3% of Reference questions: 11-20 min
• 74% of Technical questions: 2-10 min
• 23% of Technical questions: 1 min or less
• 77% of Directional questions: 1 min or less
• 22% of Directional questions: 2-10 min
