English 1302 - Rossignol, James: Save the Earth, It's Your Birthday!

Students will explore, evaluate, and use a variety of sources for their research paper assignment, which can be on a topic related to "Fifty Things you Can Do to Save the Earth" or "Things that Happened on the Day you were Born."

Searching as Strategic Exploration

Which Saving the Earth topic most interests you? water conservation, vegetarian diet, composting, gardening, bees, birds, the birds and the bees (family planning), butterflies, migratory species, backyard refuges, recycling...the list goes on!

Search for your birth date, then pick a topic from the front page of that NYT edition. Use your birthday topic as a springboard into finding books, background material, and articles for that topic.
