Group Study Rooms

Group Study Rooms

The Library has 18 group study rooms in Moody Learning Center on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors. The rooms are located in MLC 200, MLC 308 and MLC 409. White boards and computers with internet and printing capabilities are available in these rooms. 

The minimum number of users for each room is two. Individuals may not use the rooms. All group study rooms are first come, first served. No reservations needed or accepted. Each room has a maximum number of users.

Authorized Users

  • Currently enrolled Alamo Colleges (AC) (i.e., SAC, NLC, NVC, PAC, SPC) students, faculty, and staff may use these rooms.
  • To check out a room, one person in the group must present a current Alamo Colleges ID card that includes his/her Banner number.

Checking Out a Room

  • Check out a 2nd floor study room at the Reference Desk (Moody Learning Center, 2nd floor, MLC 200)
  • Check out a 3rd floor study room at the Circulation Desk (Moody Learning Center, 3rd floor, MLC 308).
  • Check out a 4th floor study room at the Reserve Desk (Moody Learning Center, 4th floor, MLC 409).
  • Rooms are checked out on a first come first serve basis. No reservations may be made.
  • A group (minimum two users) can check out a room for a maximum of three hours.
  • The room can be renewed by any individual in the group at the end of the three hours only if there are two or more available study rooms on the same floor as the room being renewed and only if two or more individuals of the original group remain to use the room.
  • A minimum of two users must be present when checking out a room. An individual may not check out a room prior to the arrival of another member of the group.
  • When checking out a room, one member of the group must present an Alamo College ID card. By checking out the room with his/her AC ID card, this user assumes responsibility for the room and agrees to ensure that the group will follow the SAC Library Group Study Rooms Policy and Guidelines.
  • Dry erase markers and an eraser for using the white board in a room may be checked out on a user’s ID card.
  • The ID card will be kept at the Desk while the room is being used by the group and will be returned to the user when the room and supplies are checked in.
  • If a group vacates a room before the end of a check out period, the room becomes available for check out to another group.
  • Study rooms must be vacated 15 minutes prior to Library closing time.
Food and Drink
  • Eating food is not allowed in the rooms.
  • Only covered drink containers are allowed.


  • A room is for studying, group discussion, and working on projects.
  • Keep the noise level low in a room so as to not disturb others in adjoining rooms or outside the room.
  • Do not rearrange furniture in a room.
  • Keep the room clean.
  • Do not leave items unattended in a room. The Library is not responsible for unattended items.
  • Use only dry erase markers and an eraser checked out from the Circulation Counter.
  • Return the markers and eraser to the Reference, Circulation or Reserve Desk.
  • A fine will be assessed to the individual checking out a room if a whiteboard is damaged or if supplies are not returned.
