Use AND to connect terms located anywhere within a document: "land trust" and Ohio
Use quotation marks to find an exact phrase: "intent element"
Use AND NOT to find documents in which a search word or phrase is to excluded: capital and not gains
Use OR to find documents that contain either or both of the words or phrases: lawyer or counsel or attorney
Use OR to search for abbreviations: international business machines or ibm or i.b.m.
Use the /n connector to locate words near one another: business loss /10 tax deduction
Omit "and" from phrases. Instead use the /1 connector: instead of "profit and loss" use "profit /1 loss
Use NOT /n to find documents where words are not within a certain distance of one another: trust not /5 charitable
