Leadership Styles Group Presentation

Searching as Strategic Exploration

LEADERSHIP STYLES GROUP PRESENTATION:

After reading the article “It All Starts at the Top: Divergent Leadership Styles and Their Impact upon a University, your group will create a presentation based on your assigned leadership style which will be presented to the class.  You will need to do additional research after reading the article.
Your presentation should include the following components:

1. Introduce your group members and your assigned leadership style. (5 points)
2. Explain this leadership style and give examples of how leaders with this style behave. (15)

3. What are the strengths and weaknesses of this leadership style? (15 points)

4. Tell us about two current leaders who exhibit this style. What traits do these leaders exhibit that demonstrates this leadership style? (10 points)

5. Share two quotes that exemplify this style of leadership. (5 points)

6. Each group member must share how they would and/or would not want to use this leadership style in their own career. (15 points)

7. Include a short video (3 minutes or less) or classroom activity that relates to this leadership style. Use the video clip or activity at any time during the presentation. (10 points)

8. Present this information clearly and creatively within the time limit. (10 points)

9. Include a reference page at the end of your presentation. (15 points)

• A student who does not participate in the planning of the presentation will not take part in the presentation and will receive a zero. All group members should participate in the delivery of the presentation.
• Each group will have 8 - 10 minutes to make their presentation.
• The classroom computer and projector will be available for your use.
• Make sure that all group members have access to the presentation in case someone gets delayed.

WHEN is this topic happening? Are there specific years of research you would like to review?

WHERE is this topic happening? What words do you think researchers will use to describe the setting or place of their study?

WHY do you think this topic is important? What arguments or conclusions will the researchers share in their study?

Are transformational leaders more effective in certain industries than others?

Sample topics to explore:

What aspect of leadership is most important to you?  For example, is communication, work ethic, sympathy, teamwork, critical thinking, listening, conflict resolution, adaptability (or something else!) the most important component of being a good leader?
