Students will choose one of the following presentation assignments… Both options require
1. Finding articles (a. student success OR b. new research in their future
field/occupation)
a. Option A: Covers student success. Each person finds 1 PRJA research study.
■ Ex: Team topic: mental health (Student 1: test anxiety; Student 2:
depression; Student 3: drug use
b. Option B: New research. Find 3-5 examples of new/emerging
research/trends/discoveries/problems solved/theories, etc. “in the field”
■ Education major finds examples of several NEW classroom strategies.
Ex: Elementary schools remove all desks for exercise balls, Florida
eliminates all standardized tests.
■ Psychiatric research on using hallucinogens to treat
anxiety/depression.
■ Computer Sci finds new use for gaming in employee training.
2. Create a presentation to share with the class.
OPTION A:
Student success Share Presentation
Overview: Teams will choose a topic (or theme) to research. Example: Mental Health
in college. Teams will create an effective multimedia presentation (Ch 5) )that
shares the research topic.
Tasks:
1. Each team member, Find 1 Peer Reviewed Journal Article (PRJA) on your team's
topic using a Library Database. Example: Academic Search Complete.
○ Each PRJA should be an actual research study, with the parts of a
PRJA (Introduction, Method, Results, & Discussion).
○ Submit your PRJA into the "Submit Student Success Articles Here"
Discussion for easy access to everyone's articles.
○ Each team member, Read the Abstract, Introduction & Discussion
sections of your PRJA.
○ If working alone, use at least 3 PRJAs.
2. Teams, Prepare an effective multimedia presentation (slideshow, Google
Slides, PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.) covering your team's research topic.
Presentation Content (50 pts)
Individually include...
● Introduction (hypothesis & past research)
● Discussion (findings & possible applications) for each article.
As a Team include...
● Compare & Contrast of all your team's PRJAs. Similarities? Differences?
● Critical Analysis Thoughts after research. Now what? Future research
suggestions? Ex: combine ideas from the methods sections)
Presentation Criteria (50 pts)
● Make it clear you read/understood your article.
● Follow the Effective Multimedia Principles from Book page 154; eBook page 5-4c,
(i.e. use pictures, minimal words, simple language, focus on key
points).
● References Page: APA Citations for all sources (-10 pts for any missing or
incomplete citations)
● Participation: All team members should contribute during the presentation.
OPTION B:
Trending Research Share Presentation
Emerging Research in the Field
Introduction: Ever thought about what career outlook really means? What
does my future occupation really look like? What's the latest research in
education? What is Science revisiting? What's the latest advancement in
Healthcare? What's trending in computer technology? What problem have
Engineers solved recently? What's new in agriculture?
Task:
● Find 3-5 articles from at least 2 different Library Databases,
Example: Academic Search Complete, on your field of interest or
future occupation. See possible research questions below.
● Prepare an effective multimedia presentation (Slideshow, Google
Slides, PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.) sharing new & emerging research,
technology, trends, or updates in YOUR future field.
● Submit at least one article into the "Submit Student Success
Articles Here" Discussion.
Possible Research Questions:
● What's trending in your future occupation? What is your future
field/occupation researching currently?
● What's new in the field? Technologies? Discoveries? Theories?
Problems recently solved or uncovered?
● What are experts in the field looking towards? What are people in
your future occupation/field planning for?
Presentation Content (50 pts)
Share each of your 3-5 articles. Include...
● Brief explanation of each article/source.
● Compare & contrast each of your articles/sources.
● Personal considerations: Thoughts, excitement, worries, &
conclusions after researching emerging research/changes in your
future field/occupation.
● Occupational considerations: Positives & negatives uncovered,
future research ideas, possible applications
Presentation Criteria (50 pts)

■ Follow the Effective Multimedia Principles from
Book page 154; eBook page 5-4c, (i.e. use

on key points).
