Competition Details

​​​​​​​Symposium Overview

The San Antonio Honors Student Research Symposium is committed to showcasing undergraduate research and creative scholarship of Honors students within partnering two and four-year institutions. We aim to foster an engaged academic community that encourages professional communication, intellectual curiosity, and critical thinking. By providing a platform for students to present their work, to engage with peers and faculty, and to inspire scholarly endeavors, we celebrate the pursuit of knowledge and the transformative power of research.

Symposium Details

  • Student presentations will consist of both poster and oral presentations.
  • Students submit their proposal to their home institution and the home institution will register the selected students.
    • Research Proposal Submission Deadline
      • Submit a proposal for review to your home institution. UTSA students, email honors@utsa.edu by February 10, 2025.
      • Review will include:
        • Student name and ID (abc123)
        • If you have earned less than or more than 60 credit hours
        • Presentation format: oral or poster
        • Proposed abstract (300 words or less) and title of your presentation
  • *Student submissions are reviewed and if selected, they will be provided the registration link
  • Poster Submission Deadline
    • February 21, 2025
  • Event date & location
    • Saturday, March 1st, UTSA Main Campus

Eligibility

The competition is open to honors students from:

  • Texas A&M University - San Antonio
  • University of Texas at San Antonio
  • University of the Incarnate Word
  • Northeast Lakeview College
  • San Antonio College
  • St. Mary's University
  • Palo Alto College

Each institution can select up to 10 students to present, with 8 poster presentations and 2 oral presentations.

Competition Awards

The following awards will be given to students in two categories: under 60 credit hours and over 60 credit hours.
