Student Learning Outcome #4: Describe concepts taught through the creative arts
 
  1. Create (must be in your own words) a pamphlet or one-page handout for families educating parents on the importance of creative arts in early childhood. Review the concepts taught through the creative arts. 
  2. The work must include:
    • Define creativity and list several characteristics of creative children. 
    • Provide examples of questioning strategies to encourage creative thinking in young children. 
    • Provided examples of language parents can use when talking about “their child’s art”.   
    • Provide three activities.  These must be appropriate for parents to provide for their children at home. Provide specific examples. You may use activities from the text that must include the source. ( These can be your own, some that you are currently doing with children)
 The brochure/handout also needs to meet the following criteria:
  • Be user friendly – this includes an easy to read format, and clear, concise explanations
  • Include pictures (these pictures must be of children birth to age five)
  • Include bibliographic citations for the references you are using may include curriculum books and websites.
  • Be typed with correct spelling and no grammatical errors
