Need to schedule a cultural event, poetry reading, or musical performance? We'd love to host you!
The Library Performance Area (LPA) is located on the 4th floor of Moody Learning Center and will hold 55attendees.
What about larger events?
The Performance Area fits55 attendeesin rolling chairs in front of a small stage/presentation area. Constructed to host cultural events such as poetry readings, musical performances, and one-act plays, events are encouraged to fit within this area to avoid interference with student study areas. For any event, access to study rooms and the service counter must be kept available, especially wheelchair access.
If you have an event with more than 55 attendees or need a space to configure multiple tables and chairs, we encourage you to contact Facilities (Campus Logistics)to assist you in selecting a more appropriate venue for your event.
The SACS accreditation report specifically recommends quiet study space for students. During Spring 2015, over 26,000 students took advantage of this area's quiet spaces. Groups that overflow the Performance Area are not encouraged for this reason, but will be accommodated as long as they agree to the 2 hour limit and access to study rooms, the service counter, and outlying tables. Any reconfiguration of tables and chairs outside of the Performance Area should be scheduled directly with Facilities.

Steps to Request an Event Booking:
Select a date. You can only select one date at a time so if your event spans multiple dates or repeats, you will need to repeat the process for each date.
Select as many timeslots as you need in order to cover the actual event plus setup and cleanup. (Example: If your event is scheduled from 9-10:30 and you need time to setup and cleanup, then select timeslots 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, and 10:30 to allow for setup and cleanup. This also provides some padding between your event and other events which may also be taking place on the same day.)
You will receive an automatic reply via email to let you know that the LPA coordinator is reviewing your request.
The coordinator will review and either approve or deny your request within two working days. You will receive a confirmation email with more information. If approved, your event will appear on the Library Classes & Events calendar.
The confirmation email contains a cancellation link for your event. Please save these emails until after your event has occurred in case you need to cancel.
Please note: We are not currently taking any LPA requests for events which occur after May 9, 2020 due to some anticipated changes and upgrades.
The LPA coordinator will begin accepting requests for events occurring after May 9, 2020 during FINALS week. We understand that this might not be enough lead time for your event and that another venue might be able to provide a more immediate booking and confirmation.
