TexShare: What is a TexShare Card?

The Alamo Colleges libraries belong to TexShare, a consortium of Texas academic and public libraries. A TexShare Card provides you with borrowing privileges from almost 500 participating libraries across the state. Use it to borrow materials directly from participating libraries. 

Where and how can SAC students, faculty, and staff obtain a TexShare Card?

Current SAC students, faculty, and staff may obtain a TexShare Card at the 3rd floor Circulation Counter in Moody Learning Center (MLC 308). You must present a current SAC ID card with the Banner ID number, have no overdue books, and owe no fines.

What are the policies and procedures concerning the TexShare Card?

SAC students, faculty, and staff who obtain a TexShare Card agree to follow the lending policies of the participating libraries. Some usual basic policies and procedures are:

• Present identification as required at the lending library.

• Return the items on time in person or by first class, insured mail to the lending library.

• Pay charges for items returned late, damaged, or lost.

When does the TexShare Card expire?

• The TexShare card expires one year from the issue date.

Can a non-Alamo Colleges patron use their TexShare Card at the SAC Library?

Yes, you can if your TexShare card has not expired and your borrower's record is in good standing.

What do I need to check out items?

Non-Alamo Colleges patrons need:

• Photo ID card with current address
• Current Library card from home library
• Current authorized TexShare Card from home library

Where are items to check out?

Items to check out are on the third floor in Moody Learning Center (MLC) 308.

How many items can I check out and what is the loan period?

• TexShare patrons can check out (5) items for two weeks.
• Items checked out with a TexShare Card can be renewed one time only.

Can I put a "hold" on an item?

• TexShare patrons cannot put a hold on materials or reserve an item.

What is the fine for an overdue or lost item and where do I pay a fine?

• The fine for an overdue item is $.10 per day per item.
• The fine for a lost item is the cost of the item plus a $10.00 processing fee.
• Go to the 3rd floor and speak with a staff member to pay a fine.
